Winter Pest Protection

So with a winter weather advisory for the area, we thought we’d get a jump on our tips!

HOUSE MOUSE

In north Alabama, the house mouse is fairly common. The fuzzy little rodents can cause serious property damage by chewing through drywall and also wires that can then spark an electrical fire. While they are cute to some degree, they can contaminate food and spread diseases, including Salmonella and tapeworms.

Here are some tips to keep them at bay:

Mice can fit through an opening as small as a dime. Seal cracks and holes on the outside of the home with caulk and steel wool.

Keep areas, especially attics. clear and store boxes off of the floor because mice like to hide in clutter.

Routinely inspect the home for signs of mice, like droppings, gnaw marks and damaged food containers.

As always, please give the professionals at ATEC Pest Control a call if you have any type of issue.
